Managing Your Institution's Membership: Tools for ICPSR Representatives
Welcome to our resource page for ICPSR Representatives! You are a valuable part of a community of the 800+ institutions globally that “do more with data,” supporting students and faculty with data, training, and more.
What is an Official Representative (OR) or Designated Representative (DR)?
ICPSR representatives are simply ICPSR data champions around the world. The ICPSR Official Representative (OR) at a member institution assists faculty, staff, and students with using ICPSR resources. The OR also votes for ICPSR Council members every other year and attends the Biennial ICPSR Meeting whenever possible.
The ICPSR Designated Representative (DR), assists data users in locating, downloading, and working with ICPSR data. This position, while optional, can be a great asset to users and the OR. The DR is also welcome to attend Biennial ICPSR Meetings.
Helping Your Institution Make a Difference with Data
You are likely wondering about your next steps as an ICPSR representative. Don’t worry, we make it easy for you. Some of your responsibilities include sharing ICPSR’s resources across your campus and assisting data users find and use ICPSR data. You do not need to be an expert in stats software or data analysis. We will help you identify individuals on your campus who can be a resource for your data users.
